- Give students list of writing prompt journal entries that are expected to be in notebook for check.
- Talk about benchmark tests
- Earthquake comprehension handout. Read and go over.
- Allow students time to work on menu project.

- Do Now-Journal Entry-If you won a million dollars, how what would you do, what would you buy, and how would you spend it?
- Students are to take three of their vocabulary words and do the five activities associated with those words.
- Collect notebooks.
- Students are to complete the “appetizer” section of their restaurant menu.
- Students are to exchange with another group for peer editing.

- Return scores for Benchmark Tests.
- Read aloud article (benchmark test).
- Students are to correct their answers and go over.
- Students are to complete the “main entrée” portion of their menu.
- Students are to find another group to peer edit (or teacher edit).
